In good condition, here is an antique edition of George Eliot's Adam Bede. Undated but would have been published around 1900 by WP Nimmo, Hay & Mitchell of Edinburgh. With an illustrated frontispiece and title page, else unillustrated. In a delightful binding.
Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. With some spotting to the edges of the first couple of pages, and also to the closed fore-edge. Has some tanning to the endpapers. This copy has not been written in and there are no other markings of previous ownership.
Red cloth covered boards have ornate decoration to the front and spine. With some bumping to the top corners and rounding to the bottom corners. The front board is in super condition with bright decoration and titles, and with just a couple of faint dark marks. The rear board also has some dark marks. The red of the spine has faded in comparison to the front and back but the decoration and gilt remain bright. There is some rubbing to the cloth at spine ends, with some chips and small areas of loss to the top edge (see close-up photo).
