1996 Complete Works of Jane Austen - Scarce Limited Edition Blue Leather

I am thrilled to have uncovered this scarce seven-volume set by The Folio Society, London. It is a blue leather bound special edition collection in the original box. Produced as part of a run limited to one thousand sets. These are extremely hard to get hold of and this set is in excellent condition. With just a little spotting to the page edges and some scuffs to the back of the box being the only condition points to note.

Contents: Sense and Sensibility; Pride and Prejudice; Mansfield Park; Emma; Northanger Abbey; Persuasion; Shorter Works.

Published to the usual high quality standards to be expected of The Folio Society in 1996. With an Introduction by Richard Church, a Select Bibliography and beautiful, in-text wood engraved illustrations by Joan Hassall (see photos). Printed on Lambeth Wove paper.

The condition of the books is excellent. Pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. With no writing, marks or signs of previous ownership. Just the spotting to the page fore-edges (see photos).

Grey/blue leather covers are also excellent with no real sign of any wear. With gilt stamped decoration including a decorative border and gilt portrait of the author. This, along with the gilt work on the spine all remain sparkly bright.

The box is clean and smart. With the above-mentioned scuffs to the back.
