In good condition here is a super vintage hardback copy of While The Orchestra Assembles A Simple Introduction by Reginald Nettel. Published by Jonathan Cape, London in 1949, this is a first edition. With black and white illustrations and diagrams and in the original dust wrapper which reads:
"intended for the general reader, this book on the orchestra and its instruments should also interest teachers as it contains all the information necessary for the understanding of the nature of orchestral instruments, how they are played, their use in the orchestra, and the way the conductor brings the orchestral score to life. There is some useful preliminary guidance in score reading, and a final chapter on famous present day conductors. Illustrations consist of nine photographs, six line drawings and numerous musical examples."
Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound with no writing or markings of previous ownership.
In the original dust wrapper which has fared well for a book of this age. With a few small edge wear nicks and chips and a little loss at the head and tail of the spine and near the top right corner. The spine has tanned and rubbed mildly. The jacket has now been protected for the future by the addition of a removable plastic sleeve.
Your vintage copy of While The Orchestra Assembles will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon* and sent well packaged. I am always happy to add a gift card with a message to the parcel.
H 21 cm x W 14 cm, 0.31 kg, 144 pages. I dispatch worldwide daily from the UK. (There are just a very few countries which I am unable to ship to).
* If you would prefer for your book not to be decoratively wrapped and sent simply in the full protective packaging, please add a note to the order.
