1939 The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett - Colour Illustrated Vintage Book

In good condition, here is a super vintage copy of The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Published in June 1939 by William Heinemann, London. With eight delightful colour plates by the revered Art Nouveau illustrator Charles Robinson (see photos). It is hard to come by vintage copies of The Secret Garden, they tend to get snapped up straight away.

Inside the pages are clean, and tightly bound. With tanning and spotting to the closed outside edges and spotting scattered sporadically through the text. With lovely illustrated endpapers and decorated title page. Has a pencil name to the front free endpaper but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. All eight colour plates are present as called for, and in very good condition.

Green cloth over boards have dark green decoration to the front and spine. With some faint marks to the cloth including a faint ring mark on the front, but these are quite hard to spot. Mild rubbing to corners and spine ends. The decoration on the front and spine remain bright.
