1933 Tales of Mystery and Imagination by Edgar Allan Poe / Daily Express, London / Illustrated Vintage Hardback Book / Very Good Condition
An attractive vintage copy of Tales of Mystery and Imagination by Edgar Allan Poe published in 1933 by Daily Express Publications, London. Illustrated and in very good condition.
The Tales are the first complete collection of the American author, essayist and poet's works. They received their widest audience posthumously, the author having died aged forty. Contains classic stories such as The Murders in the Rue Morgue and The Fall of the House of Usher amongst many others.
The book opens with a Foreword entitled "Edgar Allan Poe - The Man and His Work", by Wilfred Partington. This copy also contains an illustrated frontispiece of the author from the portrait by Ben Damman. There are four further illustrations (see photos).
In very good vintage condition (this book is 91 years old). The pages are clean and tightly bound. The top closed edge is tinted grey. It has not been written in and there are no other markings of previous ownership.
The black boards are also good being clean and un-faded. There are just a few very faint marks, but minor. The spine looks eye-catching on display with shiny bright gilt titles and winged horse.
Your vintage copy of Poe's Tales of Mystery and Imagination will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon* and sent well packaged. I am always happy to add a gift card with a message to the parcel.
