1925 Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll / G Harrap, London / Illustrated by Bessie Pease in Colour and Line / Vintage Book

Scarce in this illustrated edition, here is a lovely vintage copy of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. Published in 1925 by George Harrap & Co., Ltd of London. It has eight wonderful colour plate illustrations by Bessie Pease as well as a number in black line. In good vintage condition, with just a few condition points to note, detailed below.

Bessie Pease was an American artist and illustrator, most noted for her paintings of young children. During the early 1900s she was one of the better-known magazine and book illustrators in the United States.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound with just the occasional spot and faint handling mark. With one small neatly-inked name at the top of the front free endpaper but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. All of the lovely colour plates are present as called for, the frontispiece has a few nicks to the fore-edge.

Green cloth covered boards have an illustrated paste down to the front, and dark green titles. Again in good order. With a few light marks to the back, and one to spine. Otherwise just some light rubbing and rounding to the corners and spine ends.
