1922 The Professor by Charlotte Bronte: Edmund Dulac Illustrations, Antique Edition

An excellent antique copy of The Professor by Charlotte Bronte, extremely scarce with the original dust wrapper. This copy is a first (thus) in this edition by JM Dent & Sons, Ltd of London published in 1922. It is beautifully illustrated with six delightful colour plates by Edmund Dulac (all present, see photos). Edmund Dulac is one of the most highly regarded and sought-after artists from the Golden Age of illustration.

Inside the pages are in excellent condition with just the odd spot. Cracks open at the hinge slightly at the beginning but the binding of the text block is good and strong. This copy has not been written in and there are no other markings of previous ownership. All of the six excellent Dulac colour plates are present and are quite unlike any other illustrations for this novel (see photos).

The green cloth covered boards are absolutely excellent having been well protected by the wrapper.

The unclipped light brown dust jacket is very good indeed for a book of this age. With tanning in strips on the front being the only real condition point to note (see photos).
