In good condition, here is a lovely antique copy of Ireland - by Walker and Mathew. Published in 1912 by Adam & Charles Black, London. With 79 super colour plates and lovely decorative boards. The illustrations are a mixture of landscapes and the portraits of characters from the region.
Contents: The Other Country; The Highlands of Donegal; The Fort of the Strangers; The English Pale; The Irish Pale; The Five Counties; Ormonde; Desmond; The Islands of Ireland; The Gentlemen of Ireland; The Peasants of Ireland; The Island of Saints; The Island of Ruins.
Inside the book opens with an inked inscription on an early blank endpaper, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. All 79 colour plates are present as called for with their captioned tissue-guards. Gilt to the top edge.
Green cloth covered boards have shamrock design to the front and spine, and gilt titles. With a few condition points to note - the main one being a 2 cm tear to the cloth at the head of the spine, and 1 cm to the bottom. Has some rubbing to the top of the rear board, to remove some of the green (see photos). Rubbing also to the cloth on the corner tips, to reveal boards on the bottom front. The gilt titles are bright.
Your antique copy of Ireland will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon* and sent well packaged. I am always happy to include a gift card and message if desired.
