1911 Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen / Scarce Antique Edition / Jane Austen Winchester Collection / John Grant, Edinburgh / Good Condition

In good condition here is a lovely antique edition of Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey. Published in 1911 by John Grant of Edinburgh as part of a collection known as "The Winchester Edition". The Winchester editions have become one of the most sought after by Austen collectors. In cerulean blue boards with beautiful ornate gilt decoration to the spine.

Inside the pages are excellent for an antique title of 112 years old. The pages are clean, bright and tightly bound with no tanning, spotting or inscriptions. The top edges are gilt and the other two edges are untrimmed and these have tanned where they protrude. This is an unillustrated edition. The book has developed a mild lean over time.

The blue cloth covered boards and spine are also good. There is a crease/shallow dent in the boards in the bottom corners (see close-up photo). With just the slightest of rubbing to the cloth at the head and tail of the spine. The ornate gilt leaf work on the spine is bright and this is an eye-catching book to display.
