1907 Stories From The Arabian Nights / With 50 Illustrated Plates by Edmund Dulac / First Edition Hodder, London / In Very Good Condition

In very good condition here is a first edition copy of Stories From The Arabian Nights Re-Told by Laurence Housman. With fifty wonderful illustrations by Edmund Dulac. Undated but would have been published in 1907 by Hodder & Stoughton, London. The book and contents are in superb condition. Has the scarce original dust wrapper which has a little wear, detailed below, but also remains very good indeed. At time of writing there is only one other copy I can find for sale anywhere, and this copy here is in better condition.

Edmund Dulac was one of the great figures from the Golden Age of Illustration. Dulac's most famous works of art include illustrations for Arabian Nights, Sleeping Beauty, Stories from Hans Christian Andersen and the Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám. These works today are hugely collectable.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound with no writing or inscriptions. All of the superb colour plates are present with their captioned tissue guards.

Russet boards have ornate decoration to the front and spine. Also in top order, having been well protected by the dust wrapper.

The dust jacket itself has also fared very well indeed. Being particularly clean and bright. Comprising brown thick card onto which there is a colour paste down on the front panel. The jacket has been reinforced at the spine ends on the reverse side with professional bookbinder's tape. Also, to an area at the top front just above the titles where a closed tear has been reinforced on the reverse side and is now very hard to spot from the front. With a few small edge wear nicks. There is a split down the front spine joint (see final photo). The jacket has now been preserved for the future by the addition of a removable protective plastic sleeve.
