This is a lovely Edwardian hardback book. How To Study Wild Flowers by George Henslow, published in 1907 by The Religious Tract Society. A delightfully illustrated antique book. I like this wild flower guide in particular because of the way it separates out poisonous and edible plants. This copy is 117 years old and so inevitably has some wear (detailed below), but remains an attractive copy.

The book opens with 12 double-paged detailed colour plates (see photos) and there are 57 further line drawings in the text. Pages are in good condition, with no writing or markings of previous ownership. A few of the plates have some scuffs to the surface but overall very good. Has some tanning and spotting to the closed outside edges.

Red cloth covered boards have a floral paste down and gilt titles. With some fading to the red on the spine and a little on the back. Has a small mark near the top corner of the front board. Rubbing to the cloth on the corners to reveal boards on the tips. Rubbing and a little loss also to the cloth on the spine ends (see final close-up photo). With some splits to the cloth along the spine joints, but this is to the surface cloth only and the binding remains good and strong.

Your vintage copy of How To Study Wild Flowers will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon* and sent well packaged. I am always happy to add a gift card with message to the parcel.
