In excellent condition here is a lovely antique copy of Tales From Shakespeare by Charles and Mary Lamb. Published by TC & EC Jack of London and Edinburgh in 1905. Richly decorated and illustrated with twenty colour plates by Norman Price. A large format, impressive edition.

Tales from Shakespeare has the plays translated into prose designed to make the stories of Shakespeare's plays easier to read. Mary Lamb was responsible for the comedies, while Charles wrote the tragedies.

Contents: The Tempest; A Midsummer Night's Dream; The Winter's Tale; Much Ado About Nothing; As You Like It; The Two Gentlemen of Verona; The Merchant of Venice; Cymbeline; King Lear; Macbeth; All's Well That Ends Well; The Taming of the Shrew; The Comedy of Errors; Measure For Measure; Twelfth Night; Timon of Athens; Romeo and Juliet; Hamlet; Othello; Pericles.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound with no writing or markings of previous ownership. Mild spotting to endpapers and just very occasionally in the text. Decorative endpapers. All of the super twenty captioned colour plates are present and in excellent condition. There is also an engraved portrait frontispiece of the authors plus decorative title page. Gilt to the top edge.

Black cloth over boards have ornate gilt decoration to the front and spine and blind-stamped decoration to the back board. All in top order. A beautiful example.
