Here is a comprehensive antique edition of The Origin of Species By Means of Natural Selection or The Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle For Life by Charles Darwin. Published in 1901 by John Murray, London. In good condition.
Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. There is spotting to the endpapers (see photos), a little to the early pages and edges but none through the text. With a black and white photogravure portrait frontispiece (with mild spotting), of Darwin and a fold-out chart (intact) otherwise unillustrated. This copy has not been written in and there are no other markings of previous ownership.
Green cloth covered boards have a dark green stamped border and pattern to the front and blind border to the rear. Has some rubbing and rounding to the corners and a few small splits to the cloth at the head and tail. Gilt titles are shiny bright.
