Here is an early copy of Lewis Carroll's Sylvie and Bruno. Published just ten years after the first edition. This copy was published by Macmillan & Co., London in 1899.

The novel is a unique blend of fantasy, social satire, and philosophical musings, showcasing Carroll's signature wit and imagination. The novel alternates between two narratives:

The Fairy Tale World: Sylvie and Bruno, two fairy children, inhabit this fantastical realm. They embark on various adventures, involving magical transformations, quirky characters, and Carroll's trademark wordplay.
The Real World: This narrative is set in Victorian England, featuring romantic and social themes, as well as a love triangle between more realistic characters.

The two narratives intertwine through a dreamlike structure, where the protagonist, an unnamed narrator, oscillates between the magical and the mundane. This interplay between fantasy and reality is central to the novel’s thematic complexity.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. With spotting to the endpapers and frontispiece tissue guard. Has a small name and date at the top of the front free endpaper, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. Has a small tear near the hinge at the top of an early page and the odd nick and creased corner. Cracks open at the hinge in the middle but in no way effecting the binding of the text block which is good and strong.

Green cloth covered boards have red and black decoration to the front and spine. In good order. With some rubbing around the edges, to corners and spine ends.
