1890s Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan / George Routledge, London / Beautifully Decorative / Richly Illustrated / In Excellent Condition

In excellent condition, here is a beautiful edition of The Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan. Undated but would have been published in the late 1880s-1890s by George Routledge & Sons, London. In gorgeous decorative boards and with illustrations in colour and black and white.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. Has an inked name at the top of the title page but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. With floral endpapers. There is a corner missing to the front free endpaper and the odd chip and nick. With a few dark handling marks to an early page. Has eight colour plates and a number of black and white plates and drawings in the text. All edges are shiny gilt.

Bright red cloth covered boards have decoration to the front and spine, with a blind stamped pattern on the back. Again in top order. The front is superb and looks as it must have done when first published. There is one light mark at the top of the back board. The colours on the spine have dulled slightly in comparison to the front and back. Has some slight rolling to the cloth at the spine ends. This is an extremely attractive book.
