1890s Longfellow and Emerson Antique Poetry Book Set

In excellent condition here are two beautiful antique pocket-sized poetry books, decorated in the Chinoiserie style. Being the Poems of Longfellow and of Emerson. Undated, but would have been published by Walter Scott Ltd, London in the 1890s.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. Lovely floral endpapers. With inked inscriptions to the versos of the portrait frontispieces, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. Unillustrated. All edges are shiny gilt.

Bound in cream and dark red cloth over boards. Beautifully decorated in a kind of cross between the chinoiserie style, and Art Nouveau. They are absolutely striking. Just some very slight rubbing to the red in a couple of places, otherwise beautiful.
