1880s Little Women or Little Women Good Wives by Louisa May Alcott - Illustrated Antique Book

In excellent condition, here is a beautiful antique copy of Little Women and Good Wives by Louisa May Alcott. Undated, but would have been published in the 1880s by The Walter Scott Publishing Company, London. With a portrait frontispiece plus five black and white illustrations, gorgeous red decorative cloth backed boards, and shiny gilt edged on all sides. More details below.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. Has a prize bookplate on the front paste down dated 1906, but no other inscriptions or markings of previous ownership. Has developed a slight lean over time.

Bright-red cloth backed boards have ornate black decoration to the front, back and spine. Gilt title blocks. Bevelled edges. Again in top order. Very slight rubbing/fading to the red on the front near the fore-edge - but minor. Slight rounding to the cloth on the corners and spine ends. The red on the spine has possibly faded just a little in comparison to the bright boards. The colours and gilt remain bright and this is an extremely eye-catching copy.
