At 188 years old, here is an antique copy of The Bravo A Venetian Story by James Fenimore Cooper. Being a very early edition of the novel by the author of Last of the Mohicans. Slightly larger than pocket-sized (see dimensions below). In a full green leather binding and in good condition.
In 1829–1830, Cooper toured Italy with his wife and family. Starting in Florence, where he spent considerable time absorbing the Tuscan culture, Cooper departed on a sailing trip around Italy, visiting many historic cities including Genoa, Marseille and much of Southern Italy. Upon reaching Venice, Cooper was so struck by the architecture that he was inspired to write the novel that would become The Bravo
Inside opens onto lilac endpapers with an armorial bookplate on the front paste down. Has an engraved frontispiece and title page, else unillustrated. The pages are all clean, bright and tightly bound. Has shiny gilt edges on all sides, having dulled a little along the top edge.
In a full green leather binding with five raised bands to the spine. Again in good order. There is some fading in a strip across the top of the front board. Otherwise just the odd scuff or light mark but very presentable indeed.
Your antique copy of The Bravo will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon* and sent well packaged. I am always happy to add a gift card with a message to the parcel.
H 22.5 cm x W 15.5 cm, 225 pages, 0.79 kg. I dispatch worldwide daily from the UK. (There are just a very few countries which I am unable to ship to).
* If you would prefer your book not to be decoratively wrapped but sent simply in the full protective packaging please add a note to the order.
