In very good condition, here is a super antique copy of the Christmas Books of Charles Dickens. Undated but with a prize book plate from 1909. Published by Chapman & Hall, London. Lovely Art Nouveau decorative boards. With 21 black and white illustrations.

The Christmas books are made up of five Christmas novellas: A Christmas Carol; The Chimes; The Cricket on the Hearth; The Battle of Life and The Haunted Man.

Inside the book opens onto marbled endpapers with the above-mentioned prize bookplate on the front free endpaper. Has no other writing or markings of previous ownership. With some light spotting to the endpapers. The top closed edge is tinted black.

Red cloth over boards have cream and pale pink decoration to the front and spine, and gilt titles. Also in very good order. With some rubbing around the outside bevelled edges and to corners and spine ends. The spine has faded a bit in comparison to the front and back. Has some light marks on the back. The front remains in very good condition, with shiny bright gilt titles and this is a striking Christmas book on display.
