An attractive volume containing both Anna Sewell's Black Beauty and in the second half Stories From The Arabian Nights. Dating from the 1930s, published by Odhams Press Ltd, London. In excellent vintage condition and with the scarce original dust jacket.
This is an unillustrated edition, however there is a portrait frontispiece of Sewell (see photos). The pages are clean, bright and tightly bound with no writing, marks or signs of previous ownership. There is no tanning or foxing inside this volume at all, with just a few light spots on the closed outside fore-edge. The top of the closed page edges are tinted red. The first half of the volume is Black Beauty and the second half contains stories from The Arabian Nights including: Aladdin; Sinbad The Sailor and Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves.
Scarce in the original dust wrapper, which is also in good order - clean and smart. It does have some edge wear with a few small nicks and chips and with some loss to the head and tail of the spine (see photo 2). The red on the front and back is bright and un-faded, it has faded on the spine in comparison. The jacket has now been protected for the future by the addition of a removable plastic sleeve.
