1987 Flambards by KM Peyton - Fine Review Copy - Vintage Hardback Book

In pristine "Fine" condition, here is a vintage hardback copy of Flambards by KM Peyton. Being a review copy from 1987. A first in this new edition, published by Oxford University Press. It was sent out to a reviewer before official publication. The reviewer then stored it carefully and this copy, plus a number of other review copies, have only just come to light. All in the same pristine condition. With this copy the pages have some slight tanning, otherwise it would be described as "As New". Still has the original publisher's card tucked inside stating "Review Copy".

Apart from the mild tanning there are no condition points to note with the pages, or the jacket. Lovely!

A classic historical young adult novel written by K. M. Peyton and published in 1967. Set in Edwardian England just before the outbreak of World War I, the story follows Christina Parsons, a young orphaned heiress sent to live at Flambards, a decaying and gloomy country estate. The household is dominated by her tyrannical, horse-obsessed Uncle Russell and his two contrasting sons: the arrogant, traditional Mark, and the gentle, progressive William, who fears horses and dreams of early aviation. As Christina discovers a passion for riding and navigates the intense family cruelty, the estate serves as a microcosm for a changing British society caught between traditional Edwardian class structures and modern technological advancements.
