1970, Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe / Heron Books, London / Dark Blue Faux Leather / Illustrated / In Good Condition
An elegant and attractive edition of Daniel Defoe's classic work Robinson Crusoe published by Heron Books in 1970. Has a number of original black and white illustrations by Paul Gaisford (see photos) and a pale blue ribbon marker. Appears un-read inside with a couple of small condition points to note with the front board.
This edition gives the complete text of The Life and Strange Surprising Adventures of Robinson Crusoe and The Farther Adventures of Robinson Crusoe.
Deep blue/black faux leather boards are in very condition and the spine is un-faded with bright gilt lettering. The CONDITION POINT to note is that there is a small area on the front board near the spine where the gilt decoration looks not to have been applied quite correctly and there are also a couple of faint gilt marks in the middle section which look to be from the production process (see close-up and video). There is also a small scuff to the surface of the spine joint near the bottom where it meets to front board with a small hole on the edge. Otherwise the boards are in superb clean, bright and un-faded condition.
The pages inside are in excellent condition being bright, clean and tightly bound. There is no writing, marks or inscriptions. The covers open onto pale blue endpapers also with an elaborate gilt pattern and there is a pale blue place marker ribbon. Definitely with the feel of never having been read.
Priced to reflect the small blemish to the gilt work. Your vintage copy of Robinson Crusoe will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon and sent well packaged. I am always happy to add a gift card with a message to the parcel.
H 21 cm x W 13 cm, 0.5 kg, 476 pages. I dispatch worldwide daily from the UK. (There are just a very few countries which I am unable to ship to).
