In very good condition here is a vintage copy of two Jane Austen novels: Northanger Abbey and Persuasion by Jane Austen. A faux leather edition in the original slipcase box. Published in 1966 by Collins, London. The book appears un-read and is really in top-notch order. The condition point to note with this copy is a school prize bookplate on the front paste down which has had the name of the recipient/original owner blacked out (see photos).
The pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. Has a slight scuff to the early endpaper where possibly a price has been erased at some point. The book opens with a short biography and ends with a bibliography. This is an unillustrated edition. There is a dark red book marker ribbon sewn-in and it looks to have never been moved from the way it remains tucked into the book. The top closed edge is shiny gilt.
The original papered slipcase box is also in good condition, with some very slight rubbing to the edges and a scuff to the bottom corner which has removed a little of the paper (see final close-up photo).
The red faux leather is also superb, with shiny bright gilt school Latin crest "Strenum Agus", translating as work hard, on the front and with gilt titles and snowflakes on the spine.
Your vintage copy of Northanger Abbey and Persuasion will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon* and sent well packaged. I am always happy to add a gift card with a message to the parcel.
