1950 The Book of the Flower Fairies by Cicely Mary Barker - Scarce in Dust Jacket

Those of you that know me will know that this is quite simply one of my favourite books. In the scarce original dust wrapper here is a lovely vintage hardback copy of The Book of Flower Fairies, Poems and Pictures by Cicely Mary Barker. Undated but would have been published in 1950 by Blackie & Son Ltd of London. With seventy-two stunning colour plates. The book is in very good condition. With wear to the wrapper - detailed below.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound with no writing or other markings of previous ownership. The top closed edge is tinted green.

In green cloth covered boards with gilt decoration and titles to the front and spine. In top order having been well protected by the dust wrapper.

The dust jacket itself has a couple of 3cm closed tears to the top edge (see close-up photos). With some loss to the back cover on the bottom edge next to the flap. Some chips also along the bottom edge and to the corners. The white of the jacket has darkened a little and there are a couple of brown blemishes on the back. The entire lovely illustration on the front is intact, and the jacket has now been protected for the future by the addition of a removable plastic archival sleeve.
