1949 Works of the Bronte Sisters / Allan Wingate, London / Very Good Condition / Complete Beautiful Set / Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights etc

The most attractive vintage edition of the Bronte's novels that I have come across. So rare to find a complete set and especially in this condition. Published in London in 1949 by Allan Wingate this series is known as "The Heather Edition". This is because the cloth covered boards are in a gorgeous heather/lilac colour and the title page also follows the same theme (see photo). In very good condition, with just a couple of very minor condition points to note.

The set comprises: Wuthering Heights; Jane Eyre; Villette; The Tenant of Wildfell Hall; Shirley; The Professor, Poems and Miscellanea.

Inside the contents are clean, bright and tightly bound with no writing or inscriptions. The top closed edges are tinted pale grey/green. Has some light spotting to the endpapers and page edges, and one book has a rust brown line to the front free endpaper (see final photo). Jane Eyre lacks the final blank free endpaper. 

The heather cloth covered boards are very attractive indeed. Having kept their beautiful colour. Shirley has a small bump to the top front corner and there are a couple of faint indents to the boards but minor. With a small faint red mark on the spine of Wuthering Heights and some tanning to all spine ends. The spine colours are completely uniform and the gilt titles bright ensuring the collection looks extremely eye-catching on display.
