1933 Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte & Agnes Grey by Anne Bronte / Daily Express, London / In Very Good Condition / Vintage Bronte Book

In very good condition here are the two novels Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte and Agnes Grey by Anne Bronte bound in one attractive vintage volume from 1933 published by The Daily Express Publications, London. Has a few extras in addition to the novels.

Includes a Foreword "Emily Bronte-The Woman and her Book" by Wilfred Partington. There is also a black and white illustration of the landscape of Wuthering Heights by Percy Smith and a facsimile of Emily Bronte's handwriting. In addition this version opens with a Biographical Notice of Ellis and Acton Bell by Currer Bell (the pseudonyms used by the sisters).

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. Cracks open at the hinge at the beginning (see close-up photo), but in no way effecting the binding of the text block which is good and strong. The top edge is tinted black and there is very mild tanning and spotting to the other two sides. The frontispiece portrait is of Emily Bronte from the original by Branwell Bronte. This copy has not been written in and there are no other markings of previous ownership. Has developed a mile lean, over time.

Bound in matt black faux leather effect boards with beautiful shiny gilt lettering and a gilt winged horse motif on the spine. With the same motif blind-stamped in the centre of the front board. Again in top order, with slight rubbing to the spine ends, but minor.
