I am so thrilled with this discovery of The Allied Press Newspaper Miniature Shakespeare Series from 1932. Being a first edition thus series of forty miniature volumes (each 5 x 3.5cm), printed in easily readable 6 point typeface, housed in a smart wooden bookcase which is included. Black rexine (imitation leather) covers have lettering and decoration to the spines. Each book has a frontispiece and marbled endpapers. A very good set, complete and in bright condition. The only condition point is a little toning along the top closed edges and the titles on the spines are now hard to discern unless holding the books up to the light.
The set comprises 38 plays each in its own volume, a single volume of sonnets and poems, and a final volume which contains a list of the plays, a glossary, and a biography. Each volume contains a summary of the play, a list of characters, and the approximate date of composition.
