A superb vintage copy of Hans Andersen's Fairy Tales, published by Ward Lock, London as part of their Sunshine Series. Undated but would have been published in the 1930s. With sixteen superb full-page colour plates by Margaret Tarrant (see photos). In good condition, with a few condition points to note, detailed below.
Tales included in this volume are: The Ugly Duckling; The Little Swineherds; The Steadfast Tin Soldier; The Emperor's New Clothes; The Real Princess; Thumbelina; The Little Mermaid; The Tinder Box; The Candles; The Snow Queen (in Seven Stories).
Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound with no writing or inscriptions. Has some spotting to the half-title page, the inner margins. With a tear at the inner margin to two pages, but not effecting the text at all, and not too noticeable. Has some light spotting around the outside edges. All of the sixteen colour plates are present as called for.
The papered boards have rubbing to the corners to reveal boards beneath. With some light chipping around the outside edges, otherwise clean, bright and un-faded. The red cloth of the spine has faded a bit over time but the black titles are very distinct.
Your vintage hardback copy of Hans Andersen's Fairy Tales will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon* and will be sent well packaged. I am always happy to add a gift card with a message to the parcel.
