Here is a scarce first edition hardback copy of The Rainbow Twins. Written and Illustrated by Florence Mary Anderson. Undated but would have been published in 1919 by Joseph Johnson, London. Beautifully illustrated throughout with twelve colour plates and line drawn decoration to the endpapers, chapter headers and in-text. In good condition, with some wear to the outside of the boards being the main condition point to note.

Florence Mary Anderson was a Scottish artist who was celebrated for her ethereal fairy-tale imagery. This book is one of the few she both authored and illustrated, making it a particularly personal expression of her whimsical style.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound, with scattered spotting. Has a pencil inscription on the front free endpaper dated 1935, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. All twelve colour plates are present and in good condition.

Pink marbled papered boards have a paste down illustration to the front, with a black cloth spine. In good condition. The main condition point to note being some chipping of the paper around the outside edges to reveal boards beneath in places. Rubbing to the corners. With a small chip to the board on the top front edge.
