1911 The All Sorts of Stories Book by Mrs Lang / Beautiful Antique Book / Richly Illustrated

A beautiful antique collection of short tales. Produced at the same time and by the same publisher as the highly collectable coloured Fairy Tales series by Andrew Lang. The All Sorts of Stories Book was originally published in 1911 by Longmans, Green and Co., London and this copy is one of those first editions. With the striking illustration of a floating fairy on the front. Richly illustrated with five colour and many more black and white plates, plus numerous illustrations in the text by HJ Ford.

Contains thirty stories on a variety of subjects, including true stories, Greek myths, and tales by Alexandre Dumas, Walter Scott and Edgar Allan Poe amongst others.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound, with the occasional spot and dark mark. The main CONDITION POINT to note with this copy is the bottom edge of the front free endpaper has been cut off (see photos). Has an inked inscription just above, from the original year of publication but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. All edges are shiny gilt. All colour plates are present as called for, and all are in good condition.

Dark red cloth over boards have the lovely gilt decoration to the front and spine. Again in very good order. Has some rubbing and rounding to the cloth on the corners and spine ends. With a few shelf wear marks on the back - but minor. The gilt on the front and spine is shiny bright and this is a very attractive antique book.
