1911 Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan / TC & EC Jack, London / Decorative Antique Copy / Richly Illustrated With 30 Colour Plates

Here is a super edition of The Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan. Undated but would have been published around 1911 by TC & EC Jack, London. With thirty striking colour plates (see photos).

Inside the book opens onto decorative endpapers. Has the occasional spot, brown blemish and faint dark handling mark through the text. Cracks open at the gutter near the beginning, but the binding of the text block is good and strong. The top closed edge is gilt. All thirty colour plates are present as called for. One double page has a heavily tanned area where a book mark has been left in for a number of years (see final photo).

Dark red cloth covered boards have ornate gilt decoration to the front and spine. With some rubbing to the cloth on the corners and spine ends. Has a few small splits to the cloth at the head and tail of the spine. The lighter red decoration at the top of the front board has rubbed, and the red of the spine has faded a bit in comparison to the boards. The gilt on the front and spine remain sparkly bright and this is an attractive edition.
