1911 A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens - Illustrated Antique Edition

Here is a lovely antique hardback copy of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Undated, but would have been published in 1911 by Raphael Tuck & Sons. With eight black and white illustrations and attractive gilt decoration to the front. Contents are excellent, with some wear to the green cloth. More details below.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. With just the occasional faint handling mark. Has an inked-name to the top of the front free endpaper, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. All of the eight illustrated plates are present as called for, and all but one has their original tissue-guard in place. In addition, there are also decorative chapter headers. The top closed edge is shiny gilt.

Olive-green cloth backed boards have gilt decoration to the front, and white titles to the spine. The gilt titles and border have dulled a little in places. The central decorative vignette of Dickens remains shiny bright. Titles on the spine have faded a little. There are a few marks to the cloth and some rubbing away of the surface green in a few areas (see photos). Mild rubbing to the corners and spine ends.

Your antique copy of A Christmas Carol will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon* and sent well packaged, tracked and insured. I am always happy to add a gift card with a message if desired.
