1910 Persuasion by Jane Austen: Illustrated Antique Book

Here is a lovely antique copy of Jane Austen's novel Persuasion. Published in 1910 by Chatto & Windus, London. Richly illustrated in colour, and elegantly bound. Condition in detail below.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. With spotting to the endpapers, fore-edge and then scattered through the text, (fairly heavy spotting in places). Has an inked-name at the top of an early endpaper. All ten of the super colour plates are present as called for. Some of the plates have some folds/creases. Also has bright colourful illustrated endpapers (see photos). Cracks open at the front hinge to reveal webbing and giving the front board a mild wobble, but in no way effecting the binding of the text block which is good and strong. Partial crack to rear hinge. The top closed edge is tinted green.

Olive-green cloth over boards have elegant gilt titles plus a locket paste down design to the front upper panel. In very good order - clean, tight and square. Some rubbing to the corners and spine ends/joints, with a couple of small splits to the cloth at the spine head. An attractive set, looking eye-catching on display.
