1906 North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell / Antique Hardback Book / Smith, Elder & Co., London / In Good Condition

In good condition here is an antique copy of Elizabeth Gaskell's novel North and South. Published by Smith, Elder & Co., London in 1906 as part of their Knutsford series of the works of Gaskell. This is volume IV and is the complete novel in one volume.

Inside the pages are in good condition being clean, bright and tightly bound. Has tanning and spotting to the endpapers and spotting to the early pages including the black and white frontispiece and the title page. The frontispiece is a black and white photo of Gaskell's husband, else unillustrated. Has an inscription on the front free endpaper dated Xmas 1913. Also, still has the original publisher's label tucked in at the front (see photos). The top closed edge is gilt, with mild spotting to the other two sides.

Dark red cloth covered boards are clean and smart, with gilt titles. The red of the spine has faded just slightly in comparison to the front and back. Has some mild rubbing to the spine ends.
