1905 Bold Robin and His Forest Rangers - Antique Robin Hood Book

In very good condition, here is a lovely antique copy of Bold Robin and His Forest Rangers by Caroline Brown. With colour illustrated plates by FI Bennett. Undated, but published in 1905 by JM Dent & Co., London. Condition in detail below.

An episodic retelling of the traditional Robin Hood legends, written with a romantic, idealised focus on outdoor adventure. Instead of the modern "Merry Men," Robin’s band of outlaws are referred to as his "Forest Rangers".

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound with no inscriptions or markings of previous ownership. Just the occasional faint dark handling mark. Some tanning to the endpapers and spotting to the frontispiece tissue-guard. Has a colour frontispiece and six further colour plates. The top closed edge is gilt - the other two sides are untrimmed.

Lime-green cloth over boards have decoration to the front and spine. And a gilt prize stamp to the bottom board. Again all in very good order. Some slight rubbing to the cloth on the corners and spine ends. The decoration on the front is bright. The gilt titles and decoration on the spine have rubbed and faded over time. The spine cloth having tanned.
