As Christmas books go, they do not get much better than this. A gorgeous edition of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol beautifully illustrated by CE Brock. Published in 1905 by JM Dent & Co., London.

Bound in beautifully designed cream cloth covered boards decorated with dark grey cherubim and holly. With shiny gilt behind the titles. It is very hard to find this edition in good bright and clean condition owing to the age and the colour of the cloth. This copy is in good shape. The cloth has a few faint red/pink marks on the front (see final close-up photo), and the spine has tanned mildly in comparison to the front, but overall a very good example. The grey cherubim pattern has stayed strong and the gilt is sparkly bright. With some mild tanning to the cloth around the outside edges of the boards.

Inside the pages are clean and bright with just some occasional scattered spotting and the odd brown blemish. This copy has not been written in and there are no other markings of previous ownership. All of the colour plates are present as called for and in very good condition. The frontispiece still has its tissue guard, (tissue has some spotting). Has a number of other line drawn illustrations and decoration in the text. The top edge is gilt.
