1897 Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte / The Walter Scott Publishing Co., London / Illustrated / Gilt Edged Pages / Lovely Decorative Boards

Here is a beautiful decorative antique copy of Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. Undated, but would have been published in 1897 by The Walter Scott Publishing Co., London. With a black and white frontispiece, plus illustrations in the text by Edmund H Garrett. All edges are shiny gilt. The main condition point to note being some of the pink on the front and spine has rubbed away (see photos), otherwise in very good condition.

Inside the book opens onto a prize book plate on the front paste down from 1905, but there is no other writing or markings of previous ownership. Has a couple of marks to the floral endpapers. Pages are in very good order, being clean, bright and tightly bound.

In extremely striking blue cloth covered boards with red, orange and pink floral design, plus gilt title blocks. Some of the pink has rubbed away to the top flowers on the front, and all pink has rubbed away on the spine above the title block. Bevelled edges. Again in top order. Has some rubbing to the corners and spine ends/joints. With a faint light mark on the back.
