1892 Christmas Books by Charles Dickens / Including A Christmas Carol / Macmillan & Co., London / Five Christmas Stories / Illustrated

A really excellent antique version of Charles Dickens' five Christmas books, in superb condition. This is an 1892 reprint of the first editions of each of the five books with the original superb illustrations (see photos). That makes this one of the best illustrated copies of The Christmas Books that I have come across.  Published by Macmillan and & Co., Ltd of London, this copy is 132 years old.

The five books are: A Christmas Carol; The Chimes; The Cricket and the Hearth; The Battle of Life and The Haunted Man. 

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. With some tanning/spotting to the endpapers, and spotting to the closed outside edges. The top closed edge has some toning. This copy has not been written in and there are no other markings of previous ownership.

Bound in bottle green cloth covered boards which have fared very well. With just some very slight rubbing and rolling to the cloth at the corners and spine ends and a faint scuff on the front, but all minor. Otherwise the boards are bright, clean and un-faded with sparkly gilt titles. Has a shiny gilt "CD" crest in the middle of the front board.
