1891 Mrs Beeton's Every Day Cookery and Housekeeping Book / Ward Lock & Co., London / Richly Illustrated Including Eight Colour Plates / Box

In a custom made box here is a copy of Mrs Beeton's Every Day Cookery and Housekeeping Book. A very attractive edition. Published by Ward, Lock & Co., Ltd of London in 1891. With seven colour plates, multiple further plates in black and white plus diagrams. This book is over 130 years old and so inevitably has a couple of condition points to note (detailed below). By their very nature the Mrs Beeton books were an indispensable part of running a household and so they often don't survive in very good condition. This copy is bright and square, having been well preserved in the purpose made box.

Containing: New and Valuable Recipes, Including Instructions For Foreign and Vegetarian Cookery, New French and English Menus For Every Month of the Year, New Menus For Breakfast, Luncheon, Tea, Supper & Picnics, New tables of Housekeeping Accounts and Household Expenditure. With Much Valuable Information With Regards to Modes of Cooking, Science of Cookery and Household Arrangements.

Inside the pages are clean with no writing or other markings of previous ownership. Has some spotting to the early pages. To note: the joints of the first couple of pages has been reinforced by what looks to be professional tape (see photos). Also lacks the first colour plate, but all seven other delightful colour plates are present. 

Brown cloth covered boards have ornate decoration to the front and spine. With some light fading spots to the brown in places on the front and back. With a little rubbing to the patterned decoration and rubbing to the cloth on the corner tips and spine ends. With bright, shiny gilt titles.

Comes in a very sturdy custom made box - in good condition with just a couple of black ink marks. Should continue to protect the book for many more years to come.
