1890s The Works of William Shakespeare With Life, Glossary etc. / The Albion Edition / Warne & Co., London / Full Leather, Marbled Edges

In good condition, here is a beautifully bound antique copy of The Works of William Shakespeare. Bound in full leather with marbled endpapers and page edges. Undated but would have been published in the 1890s by Frederick Warne & Co., London. With a portrait frontispiece, short biography and glossary.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. With a few folds to the corner tips. Opens onto marbled endpapers which have a prize bookplate on the front paste down.

Very well bound in deep maroon red leather with gilt borders and dentelles to the boards and ornate gilt to the spine. Has a gilt school crest in the centre of the front board from Bedford School (established in 1566 and still going strong today). The binding is again all in very good order, with a little rubbing around the extremities, but mild. Has a couple of scuffs to the leather on the back to remove the surface of the leather in a couple of places (see final close-up photo).
