1890s Christmas Tales and Old Curiosity Shop by Charles Dickens & Woodstock by Sir Walter Scott / Three Book Antique Set / Christmas Carol

Here is a charming antique three-book set. Comprising: Charles Dickens Christmas Books; The Old Curiosity Shop - also by Dickens, and Woodstock by Sir Walter Scott. Undated but would have been published in the 1890s by RE King & Co., London. These books are well over 120 years old and so inevitably have some signs of age and wear (detailed below), but it is lovely that they have remained together as a set.

The Dickens Christmas Tales are made up of his five Christmas books: A Christmas Carol; The Chimes; The Cricket on the Hearth; The Battle of Life and The Haunted Man.

Inside the pages have tanned with age and have the occasional creased/folded corner. Christmas Tales and Woodstock lack the blank front free endpaper and so open onto the title page. There is no writing, inscriptions or other markings of previous ownership.

Pale green cloth covered boards have faded a bit with time and have picked up some dark marks (see photos). Woodstock is a slightly brighter green than the other two books on the front. With matching dark green decoration to the fronts and spines. The spines have tanned over time. With a little rubbing to the cloth on the spine ends.
