1890 The Novels of George Eliot in Six Volumes / William Blackwood, London / Bound in Leather With Blue Marbled Sides and Endpapers

Here is a beautiful set of leather bound volumes of The Novels of George Eliot. Undated but published around 1890 by William Blackwood and Sons, London. In a dark leather binding with striking bright blue marbled sides, edges and endpapers. 

PLEASE NOTE There were eight volumes published in this series. There are six here. Lacks Mill on the Floss and Romola. The volumes are: Adam Bede; Middlemarch; Silas Marner; Scenes of Clerical Life etc; Felix Holt; Daniel Deronda.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound with no writing or inscriptions. Bindings are good and strong. With spotting to the endpapers and sporadically through the texts. Opens onto blue marbled endpapers and has lovely blue marbled edges (see photos). This is an unillustrated edition. 

The leather binding has rubbed and scuffed in places. With scuffing to some corner pieces and a little peeling of the top surface in places. The spines have five raised bands and gilt titles. The leather on the outside edges has faded a good deal in comparison to the sides, with some scuffs. The gilt titles remain bright.
