In very good condition, here is a beautifully illustrated antique copy of Tales From Shakespeare by Charles and Mary Lamb. Published in 1890 by Bickers and Son, London. With twelve black and white illustrations and shiny gilt edged pages.

Contents: The Tempest; A Midsummer Night's Dream; The Winter's Tale; Much Ado About Nothing; As You Like It; The Two Gentlemen of Verona; The Merchant of Venice; Cymbeline; King Lear; Macbeth; All's Well That Ends Well; The Taming of the Shrew; The Comedy of Errors; Measure For Measure; Twelfth Night; Timon of Athens; Romeo and Juliet; Hamlet; Othello; Pericles.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. A couple of early pages are slightly wavy at the fore-edge, but minor. Has a prize book plate on the front free endpaper dated Xmas 1890, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. All twelve black and white plates are present as called for.

Blue cloth covered boards have lovely gilt decoration to the front and spine, and bevelled edges. Again all in very good order. With just some slight rubbing to the corners/spine ends and slight fading of the blue on the spine, but again minor. The gilt decoration has remained sparkly bright and this is an extremely eye-catching book.
