1890 Little Women and Good Wives - Antique Two Volume Set

Here is a set of Little Women and Good Wives by Louisa May Alcott. Undated, but would have been published in 1890 by Hutchinson & Co., London as part of their Garland Library collection. With matching red bindings which have some vintage wear, but look very attractive together on display. I've never had a matching pair in a set before.

The blank front free endpaper of Little Women has been removed and so it opens directly onto the half-title page. This has tanned and has the ghost of an inscription (which would have been on the endpaper) in the top corner. With some occasional spotting and brown blemishes. Tanning to the outside edges. Good Wives has a prize bookplate on the front free endpaper and some spotting to the outside edges. Both have a black and white frontispiece, else unillustrated.

Bound in red cloth over boards with black stamped decoration to the front and spine, and gilt title blocks. With some light marks to the cloth including the front of Little Women. Little Women also has some white marks and spots to the spine. The spine of Good Wives is a little lighter than Little Women.
