1882 Tales About Christmas and New Year's Day by Peter Parley / William Tegg, London / Many Black and White Illustrations / Good Condition

A charming Victorian pocket-sized collection of festive stories. Tales About Christmas and New Year's Day by Peter Parley. Undated but with a prize bookplate on the front paste down from 1882. An antique, pocket-sized volume published by William Tegg of London. With a number of black line drawn illustrations in the text, attractive decorative boards and gilt edged pages.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. With the above-mentioned bookplate but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. Has cracked hinges at the front and back but in no way effecting the binding of the text block which is good and strong. Gilt edged on all sides.

Red cloth covered boards have ornate gilt decoration to the front which has remained in very good condition. The spine has tanned and faded so the gilt can no longer be discerned (see photos). With blind-stamped decoration on the back board. Has some rubbing to the cloth on the corner tips. Also rubbing and some small splits/fraying to the cloth on the spine ends.
