1880 Christmas Books by Charles Dickens / Chapman and Hall, London / Five Christmas Stories / Illustrated / A Christmas Carol / Un-Read Copy

In excellent condition, here is a beautiful antique version of Charles Dickens' five Christmas books. This is an 1880 edition of the stories with 28 illustrations by F Barnard. Published by Chapman and Hall of London. A fairly large format edition (see dimensions below). This copy is clearly un-read as the majority of the pages have never been cut open across the top or fore-edge (see photos). I have left them like this so that the new owner can experience opening them as the original reader would have done over 140 years ago.

The five books are: A Christmas Carol; The Chimes; The Cricket and the Hearth; The Battle of Life and The Haunted Man. 

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound with just the occasional bit of spotting. This copy has not been written in and there are no other markings of previous ownership. The text is in double columns, there are two full-page black and white plate illustrations and many more in the text.

Beautifully bound in green cloth covered boards with black and gilt decoration to the front and spine, and some blind-stamping to the back. All in top order with just a few light scratches and one small bump to the back, and also some light rubbing to the corners and spine ends. The gilt decoration is shiny bright. 

Antique Dickens' Christmas books don't often survive in such good condition as this one.
