1879 Poems by William Wordsworth : Illustrated Antique Book

In very good condition, here is a beautifully bound antique copy of Poems by William Wordsworth. In a lovely dark blue binding with ornate gilt. Undated, but published in 1879 by William P Nimmo, Edinburgh. Richly illustrated and with shiny gilt on all page edges.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. With spotting to the preliminary pages, and then occasionally in the text. The odd handling mark - but minor. Has a black ink spot to the gilt fore-edge (see photos). Cracked hinge between the frontispiece and title page, but the binding is good and strong. Portrait frontispiece with tissue-guard, illustrated title page and ten further engraved plates. No writing or markings of previous ownership.

Dark blue cloth over boards have extremely ornate gilt decoration to the front and spine, and blind stamping to the back. Again in top order. With some tiny light specks on the back. The front board is superb with shiny bright gilt. The spine has dulled in comparison. Rubbing to the corners and spine ends/joints. An extremely eye-catching book.
