In good condition here is a beautifully illustrated antique book. Homes Without Hands Being a Description of The Habitations of Animals, Classified according to Their Principles of Construction by Rev JG Wood. Published in 1865 by Longmans, Green & Co., London. In a leather binding with twenty-one engraved plates plus many more black and white illustrations in the text.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound, with the occasional nicked edge or folded corner. With spotting to the endpapers and the frontispiece tissue-guard. Has a bookplate on the front paste down which has left a shadow impression on the opposite page (see photos). With an inked name at the top of the title page but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. The engraved plates are absolutely superb, minutely detailed (see photos).

In a fine calf leather binding with lilac boards. There is some rubbing to the calf leather corners pieces and a few light marks to the boards. The spine has four raised bands with ornate gilt decoration in each compartment. With a red Moroccan leather title plate. The leather has some light rubbing and scuffing, with a split to the leather down the joint with the front board. This is to the surface leather only and the binding remains good and strong.
