Here is a lovely antique hardback book. Rambles About Bath and Its Neighbourhood by James Tunstall. Published in 1856 by RE Peach Library, Bath. With fourteen delicately engraved illustrations. In good condition for a book of 167 years old. The main condition point to note is it lacks the map at the end.

You won't find many cities with a more interesting history dating back to the Roman times. It became the destination in Regency times and the Georgian artcitecture is famous the world over.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. There is some spotting to the engraved plate illustrations. Has an inscription on the verso of a front endpaper dated 23rd Septmeber 1858 and a small initial stamp at the top corner of the front free endpaper.

With chapters on: The Abbey; The Baths; Beau Nash the Regency society gentleman; and also with a census and index at the back. There are also chapters on the areas on the outskirts of the city centre.

Blue cloth covered boards have blind stamped decoration to the front and spine. There is some rubbing around the edges and to the cloth at the corners. With rubbing along the spine joints and at the head and tail, with some fraying and a little loss to the cloth along the top of the spine. Securely and tightly bound.
