1855 Poetical Works of William Cowper: Illustrated Antique Leather Bound Book

In very good condition, here is a lovely antique copy of The Poetical Works of William Cowper. In a full red leather binding, illustrated with engraved plates and with shiny gilt-edged pages. Published in 1855 by George Routledge & Sons, London.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound with just the occasional mark. Inked inscription on the front free endpaper from Christmas Day 1855, otherwise no other writing or markings of previous ownership. Light scuffing to the top gilt edge.

Red leather binding has ornate gilt decoration to the front, back and spine. Rubbing to the edges and corners of the boards. A fair amount of rubbing to the spine, spine joints and ends - with rubbing away of the surface red in places and some light creasing along the length. A few dark spots to the leather. Decorative gilt dentelles on the edges.
